ROLE PROFILE

JOB TITLE: IT Operations Network Engineer

REPORTS TO: IT Operations Manager

DEPARTMENT: IT Services

DIVISION: Support Services

ROLE PURPOSE:

This position sits within the IT Operations team and demands a confident and skilled individual who can deliver day to day L2 operational requests, incident investigation and event driven alert remediation. Working in collaboration with the L3 Platform team contributing and helping to shape Moneycorp’s network infrastructure requirements as well as make recommendations for service reliability and efficiency improvements.

Primary responsibilities for this role will be split between operational tasks, maintaining service health and reliability across the platform and its networking technologies such as F5, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco Meraki and Azure components, proactively investigating and resolving capacity and stability of the platform. Investigating project-focused tasks relating to continual improvement of the technical environment.

Engage key external stakeholders (data circuit providers, MPLS & data-center providers) to progress network tickets relating to change requests and incident management and projects.

An escalation point for the L1 Operations Team (Service Desk) for both incidents and requests. Lead and collaborate on infrastructure upgrade projects based on business requirements and timelines. Vulnerability patching of the network infrastructure and relevant software components.

Supporting and maintaining our firewall estate to best practice.

Supporting and maintaining our routing and switching infrastructure to best practice.

Supporting and maintaining our load-balancing infrastructure to best practice.

Maintaining network design/build/configuration documentation.

Security patching and updating of network hardware.

Deploying and managing change requests for network equipment.

Managing and auditing log activity on all network devices.

2nd Line Support

Escalation and troubleshooting of network specific incidents from Moneycorp’s IT Service Desk.

Participate in on-call support and escalation for network-related issues

Project Work

Act as an IT technical resource for business projects and technical changes, contributing to solution design and support documents as a part of the project rollout and transition to production.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills, Qualifications and Experience relevant to the Role

Key Performance Criteria

Knowledge and Experience:

          Knowledge of IT Service Management life cycle; ITIL experience.

          Business knowledge – Understanding of business priorities – ability to accurately evaluate relative impact/urgency of issues and requests.

          Experience working and supporting networking infrastructure in an international multi-site business.

          Proven ability to deliver Platform Operations.

          Comfortable with networking fundamentals – VLANs, NAT, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP.

          Knowledge of L2 switching technologies (STP, RSTP, VTP, Etherchannels), VLANs, trunking) and L3 switching (SVIs, inter-VLAN routing)

          Cisco ACL creation and management

          Experience managing next-gen firewalls (e.g. Palo Alto)

          Experience managing IPS/IDS technologies

          Experience with load-balancing technologies, preferably F5 BIG-IP, Azure LB

          Experience with Microsoft Azure networking technologies

          Knowledge/Experience of Cloudflare technologies

          Expertise in cloud network security

          Software defined networking using Terraform and PowerShell

          Knowledge of scripting languages such as Terraform

          DNS

          SSL/TLS

 

Desirable Skills:

          Desirable to have any of F5, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco Meraki, Microsoft Azure certifications

          Desirable to have SD-WAN, Zero Trust Networking, WAF, Internet Gateways, Email security, DNS, SSL/TLS

          Desirable to have Cisco CUCM VOIP configuration and management experience

You may be required to work at home or from any of the Company’s offices.

Office: Bucharest, Romania.
Hours of work: 8:00 – 5:00 Mon-Fri. On-call rotation participation, out-of-hours work will be required in this role.
