Who You Are / Your Next Challenge
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Work Stream Lead
We are seeking an experienced leader to drive the delivery of platform features across multiple work streams. You will join a dynamic team, collaborating with product owners, BAs, designers, developers, and solution architecture SMEs. Based in a fast-paced environment, you will support agile teams, manage product backlogs, and align delivery plans with the Programme Manager. Your role involves providing technical leadership, mentoring developers, and guiding Scrum teams on solution design and architecture. You will ensure adherence to engineering principles and quality standards, lead technical spikes, and facilitate delivery planning. Championing autonomy and ownership within Scrum teams, you will ensure the technical solution aligns with the product vision, driving successful delivery and innovation.
Key Accountabilities Include:
- Delivery of high-quality product features in accordance with agreed sprint goals and in line with requirements and broader product and technical vision.
- Guide developers through peer review, mentoring, and coaching on good coding standards and solution architecture.
- Take responsibility for the professional development of direct reports.
- Understand and promote the importance of good software design and development principles in line with the technical vision.
- Promote best practices through collaboration with solution architecture vision keepers by leading by example and driving adoption and adherence.
- Strong comprehension of the business domain surrounding development efforts and wider product vision.
- Effective engagement with product owners, BAs, designers, developers, and solution architecture SMEs.
- Drive effective management of product backlogs and delivery plans, working in alignment with the Programme Manager and standard operating model.
- Provide direct technical leadership to Scrum teams where possible and engage with solution architecture SMEs on the technical vision.
- Ensure requirements are subject to thorough technical elaboration ahead of time.
- Drive definitions of granular development tech tasks estimable by a developer.
- Drive coordination of planning sessions.
- Assist coordination of agile ceremonies and effective collation of output actions and follow-ups in support of Scrum Leads.
- Drive autonomy and accountability within Scrum teams and work streams.
- Champion continuous learning and improvement.
- Undertake hands-on development activity in support of sprint goals.
What we’re looking for / Skills that will help you in the role
Required Skills:
- Leadership experience with exceptional organizational and risk management skills
- Capability to manage multiple product backlogs, teams, and delivery plans
- Experience working and leading within a distributed team
- Hands-on technical background with proven experience implementing high-quality software solutions
- Broad technical experience spanning multiple technical stacks and environments
- Practical experience applying good design patterns and principles
- Experience mentoring in a development setting
- Strong communication and negotiating skills
- Line management experience, including running mentoring and coaching programs and setting personal development goals
- 2:2+ Degree level, ideally computing science or equivalent
Preferred Skills:
- Agile delivery models
- Software Architecture patterns and principles
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and other domain modelling paradigms
- .NET 7, 8 / Framework, C#, F#
- Containerization
- Azure (AppService, Functions, ASB, EventHubs, AppInsights, ADO, ARO, Kafka)
- T-SQL, REST, HTML5, JavaScript libraries (e.g., React/Redux), TypeScript, GIT
- Functional and Object-Oriented (OO) paradigms
- Lean principles, continuous integration, DevOps cultures and techniques
- Cloud provisioning, Infrastructure as Code (IAC), CI/CD pipelines

This position is full-time, permanent. The role is expected to be office-based in London as part of the IT Development team. However, we have an agile flexible working policy which enables you to work up to 2 days from home if desired.
